January 2, 2020,
Happy New Year is the appropriate greeting for starting a new year and or decade. The familiar promises and expectation of change for the better is the course of the week. Questions appear as, "should I fast during the first 10 days of the year? or should I start my exercise regiment to close all circles on the face of my Apple Watch?" While these endeavors are certainly worthwhile, I'm not in a committed state of mind. .. Maybe I'll consistently journal.... Grow my photography and art business. These promises and dreams are my New Years resolutions for the last 10 years.
However, Instead of starting and eventually trailing off of my goals, I'll simply strive to stop and take deeper breathes throughout the day and recognize the accomplishment of waking each morning and placing one foot in front of the other, as I navigate the mundane and not so mundane. I'll laugh aloud and dance in my office when I hear a favorite song. I will answer "yes" when I truly want to do something and answer "no" (without guilt) when I do not want to do something. Today, I am satisfied with simply writing this post, whether or not anyone reads or comments.
Happy New Year!
